Khamandu:Kanti Light, Pur City

Khamandu is the largest metropolitan city of Nepal. A 218 square miles of land, about 4400 Ft above sea level with three historic, artistic and cultural towns namely Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur together form the so-called `Kathmandu Valley 'is known. Kathmandu is the hub of Nepal's traditional culture and art. This is the place for rest, relaxation and easy day sightseeing of historic and artistic temples and monuments, and mountains. As the capital of Nepal, it offers many services including international airlines, hotels and other facilities. One also enjoys Kathmandu for nightlife, shopping and of course for the mountains.


Changu Narayan
The temple, located in Chingu village 12km from the city of Essen, is full of Hindu God Vishnu (the god of creation) dedicated. The temple is believed to be the oldest temple in the Kathmandu valley. The temple stretches over 1600 years of Nepalese art history presents some of the best samples of stone, wood and metal crafts in Nepal. There's also everyone's favorite statue of Vishnu sitting astride his horse. For a look at the ancient arts, this place is a must.


Bouddhanath Stupa
The 36 meters high, among the largest stupas in South Asia is the home of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal. It is based on the ancient trade route to Tibet (6 km east of the city). For the shopping area, a bazaar of Tibetan jewelry, handmade carpets, masks, Kukuri knife (the knife used by Gorkhas) and Tibetan thangka painting as known. There are many stupas in the vicinity of any one earns through observations of visitors.



Dubar Square
This is a durbar of history and art. One can see monuments, find the house of the living goddess, learn about the Kal Bhairam Temple, Red Monkey God, and hundreds of erotic carvings. The kastamandap rest house is located in the Durbar Square is said to have been built from a single tree trunk, it is because of this house, Kathmandu Valley got its name. There is also a museum at Durbar Square, a complete history of Nepal's king and ruler presents away.

Swayambhu at night
The history of the Kathmandu valley begins the Swayambhu temple. This valley was a lake, but later when Bodhisattva Manjushri cut a gorge in a southern hill and drained the water on a lotus worship that he admired during his trip to the region, they lead people to settle on the bed of the lake and this land called Kathmandu Valley. The word Swayambhu means "the self-existent" in the English language. Today this complex of stupas is offering the opportunity to study the religious harmony in Nepal. Tibetan monks, priests and nuns Brahimn Newar are the main worshiper here. Most of the monasteries have huge prayer wheels, fine Buddhist paintings and special butter lamps all add an elegant touch, the Swayambu.
